Four Vintage Inspired Items That Are In Style Right Now

Are you a vintage fashion fan but have no idea where to start when it comes to actually shopping vintage? Finding good condition retro clothes can be difficult, especially if you live in a place where thrift stores are limited. However, there are many retro styles that are in fashion right now, and you can probably find them on your local high street. Checking out Vinted or other online second-hand emporiums may also be a good idea as well. Getting some of these core items can really set your starter vintage wardrobe off on the right foot!

Flares

Do you need a bit of the 70s in your life? Well luckily for you, skinny jeans are out and flares are in. There are many different styles of flares available on the market right now – you don’t have to go for a majorly wide leg if you’re dabbling with the vintage look. Flared jeans can be styled many ways. For a casual look, pair with an oversized band t-shirt and converse, and look like an extra from Dazed and Confused. If you want to dress up your flares, pair with some chunky heels and a bodysuit. If you’re a fan of the bright, retro print, you could also consider getting some animal print legging-style flares.

Penny Lane Coat

This is Penny Lane, man, show some respect! This fur trimmed coat, sometimes known as an afghan coat, has exploded in popularity recently. An iconic staple of hippie fashion, adding this coat to any outfit can make you look divinely retro-inspired instantly. There are many ways you can wear a penny lane coat- pair with a retro shirt, black mini skirt and boots for a preppy style. However, for a classic hippie style, wear with your flared jeans.

White Go-Go Boots

Twiggy called – her iconic white boots are back in fashion. Did they ever really go out of style though? The white gogo boot has been immensely popular in the past year or so, from ankle boot styles to boots that go all the way up to the knee. Pair with a mini dress and a leather jacket for a look straight from Carnaby Street. Pick a dress with a classic 60s floral print or a bright geometric design for extra retro style points. If you’re not a fan of white, getting gogo boots in bright colours also looks amazingly 60s.

Bright Knits

Unfortunately, Harry Styles did not invent this look. He does look amazing, though. Bright and chunky knits were very popular in the 70s, and thankfully they have returned today. There are many ways to wear this comfy but daring look – bright knitwear looks amazing when styled with some oversized blue jeans and a white oversized shirt. There are many ways to find this look sustainably as well- you can even try and make one yourself! Remember, the wackier the better- don’t be conservative with this 70s throwback. Fashion is fun – take a risk!
